King Falls Public Library Set to reopen West Wing after "Lincoln's Revenge"

The dust has finally settled, the shelving has been refurbished and the walls have received a fresh coat of paint; it's almost time to reopen the King Falls Public Library's west wing.

Last November, during the filming of the hit television show Mission: Apparition, the King Falls library received a makeover, albeit one it didn't want or was expecting.

"It was sheer pandemonium." Emily Potter, King Falls librarian stated.

"Everything started off fine, but during the interview with Dan & Larry, Ben was hoisted ten feet up into the air and choked until he was turning blue! Honestly if it hadn't been for ... Abraham Lincoln, this story might not have ended as happily as it did."

Speaking with Mayor Grisham over the phone, he wasn't nearly as pleased with the end result as Ms. Potter.

"I wouldn't call spending close to $30,000 a happy ending at all. I think it's sad that King Falls had to use money, previously allocated elsewhere, to pay for what was basically a radio station publicity stunt gone awry. Just another way those chuckleheads at King Falls AM are ruining our happy little town!"

The King Falls Public Library has been on the receiving end of a long line of bad luck the past year, starting with the disappearance of head librarian Lily Kilpatrick in May, to this past November's Lincoln's Revenge, but Ms. Potter sees the light at the end of the tunnel.

"I'm just so happy to be able to open the west wing again. It's an uphill battle but I really think this will actually help the library's numbers and not hurt. So many kid's ask me about the apparitions of President Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth that I think they'll show up just to investigate themselves! And hopefully read a book or two while they're at it!"

Time will tell whether Lincoln's Revenge and it's new makeover will be helpful or a hindrance but you can judge for yourself this coming Tuesday during the west wing's grand re-opening.

"It'll be a low-key affair." Emily Potter told this reporter with a smile. "While we won't have the pomp and circumstance of one of our King Falls celebrations, we will be forgiving all resident's past due fees up to $15 plus we have a media display of the Mission Apparition episode the Library was featured in, so be sure to stop by!"

We'll definitely be there alongside Emily Potter enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. Hopefully we'll get to see you King Falls residents with young readers as well as delinquent and irresponsible library patrons looking for forgiveness too.

Mayor, Radio Host involved in "Scuffle" at Town Celebration

Friday afternoon's Best Small Town in America celebration didn't turn out to be quite the walk in the park Mayor Steven Grisham thought it would be.

Seemingly every resident in King Falls made it down to Main Street for the parade and the coronation afterwards in the park. Hosted by King Falls AM late night talk radio hosts Sammy Stevens & Ben Arnold, it was an afternoon destined to bring our mountain town together.

Or was it?

From what The King Falls Gazette gathers, there was a miscommunication between Sammy Stevens, who was set to announce Mayor Grisham to the stage for a speech and the Mayor himself. But that's when things become murky, varying stories from the parties involved don't help to clear up what seemed to be an all-out fight.

Onlookers describe the Mayor taking a swing at the radio DJ and a brawl ensuing, which is corroborated by the fact Steven's broadcast partner, Ben Arnold, commentated the scuffle live on-air.

Meanwhile, Mayor Grisham denies there was a fight at all."There was no scuffle. Apparently Sammy Stevens was trying to warn me of ... something, I don't know, and I saw a bee on his face. I simply tried to swat the bee away from him using everything in my arsenal. Have you ever been stung by a bee? It's terrible. It was probably exacerbated by the fact that I tripped on a loose wooden plank on the Main Street Stage and fell into Stevens with extreme force. Which leads me to an announcement; the King Falls Chamber of Commerce and I have decided to build a completely new stage for next year. It's just another thing to add to the list of the exceptional things I do for such an exceptional city."

When asked about the brawl, that Ben Arnold called play-by play on, Mayor Grisham said: "I can't vouch for anything that happens on that radio station, much less Ben Arnold commentating a 'fight'. There was a bee on Stevens. End of story." said the Mayor via phone interview.

Sammy Stevens has not been reached for comment however we received an email from the owner of King Falls AM, Merv, informing us that Sammy Steven has been suspended, with pay, for the next two weeks worth of broadcasts.

Ben Arnold, co-host of the popular late night talk radio show, stated "I don't know about a bee or however the Mayor's office is trying to spin this. I know he punched my friend in the face while my friend was trying to stand up for this town's interest. That's all I've got to say about it. Stay strong, Sammy. We'll talk to you soon."

As of the writing of this article, while the police did break up the apparent "bee swatting incident" no charges have been filed on either side and business goes on as usual down at City Hall.

The 7th Annual Best Small Town in America is almost upon us!

The Main Street Park came alive today, with scores of workmen and crews putting up the decorations for this Friday's 7th Annual 'Best Small Town in America' coronation.

The excitement in the air is palpable; huge smiles on the faces of all the passersby while friends and neighbors take to the city streets, talking about the biggest block party of the year.

"After the Holiday's, the excitement used to peter out around the Falls, but with King Falls winning this special prize every year from the Chamber of Commerce, it really doesn't seem to fizzle out at all!" exclaimed life-long resident, Frank Perry.

And Frank is right. For the six years that King Falls has been bestowed the distinction, it doesn't seem to slow down. What once was a lull known as January, has picked up since Mayor Steven Grisham has taken power.

Mayor Grisham was quoted saying "Look, it would be real arrogant of me to say that for every year I've been mayor of our wonderful little town, we've been named the best small town in America. It's true, but it would be arrogant. And it certainly isn't all because of me. This town and it's resident's truly are the best America has to offer. But I am pretty proud to say that I helped us on our way."

Local vocal detractor, AM radio host Sammy Stevens, has even stopped trying to take the air out of the pageantry. "I've been in King Falls the better part of a year now and, don't get me wrong, I have my doubts about the veracity of the claim, but King Falls is a very special place. In my own heart and obviously the hearts of the voters ... located right down on Second Street inside the King Falls Chamber of Commerce."

While records are hard to find on past winners of the Best Small Town in America, this reporter has no doubt that King Falls has outshined any other recipient of this award ever, and will continue to bring home the honor for many more years to come.

Local Weatherman Begins Stint in Rehab

Storm Sanders, Channel 13 on-air personality and lead weatherman, was seen earlier today entering the Big Pine Rehab Facility under his own volition.

Channel 13 representatives would not comment on the matter. However King Falls AM radio host, and anti-Channel 13 enthusiast, Ben Arnold was more than happy to comment on the situation.

"I think it's a publicity stunt. Absolutely!" Arnold stated with unabashed glee over the phone.

"Look, the guy had a very public meltdown on television. Showed symptoms of either drunkenness or an ancient Hatchenaw curse, you be the judge, and then miraculously you guys get tipped off that he's entering rehab up in Big Pine? Those shysters at 13 are just trying to avoid FCC fines."

While Storm Sanders has been known to enjoy the King Falls nightlife, it is not certain if he has indeed been possessed by "Skinwalkers"

Only time will tell.

Mayor Grisham Signs Off On "Lincoln's Revenge" Library Repairs

After almost two weeks of heated debate, Mayor Grisham has finally agreed to use public funds to repair the East Wing of the King Falls Public Library. The library was damaged during an on-air "stunt" gone awry, when King Falls AM's Ben Arnold was hosting a duo of popular television presenters, Larry & Dan, from the show Mission: Apparition.

"The Mayor keeps calling this a stunt, but if he didn't have his head ... where it didn't belong, he could listen to the playback and realize that Ben, Ms. Emily Potter, Dan & Larry from Mission: Apparition were attacked. By spirits." said late-night talk show host, and paranormal skeptic, Sammy Stevens.

During an on-air interview November 15th, local librarian Emily Potter says she witnessed the spirit of presidential assassin, John Wilkes Booth lift her "good friend Ben" up into the air "at least ten feet" while choking him before throwing him down and flying away from fellow apparition, former President Abraham Lincoln. While the incident happened live and uninterrupted on King Falls AM, the video of the attack, taken by Larry of Mission: Apparition, was destroyed during an exchange of ghost gatling gunfire as the television team hurried from the building.

Though Dan & Larry couldn't be reached for an official comment, a representative from Spook TV says they will speak at length about their experience in King Falls in a future episode of the show. The popular hosts were in town for an interview and investigation of the King Falls Public Library upon the request of Sammy & Ben.

Ben Arnold defended himself today through text, saying "I could have shown them any number of paranormal places in town, you guys know, but of course I would take them to the King Falls Library. Where else are you going to run into the apparition of not only the 16th President of The United States but also his assassin! This wasn't about impressing my girlfriend. Not that Emily is my girlfriend. I mean, she's a girl, that's happens to be a friend. A good friend. You know what I'm saying. Don't quote this!"

Not everyone has taken the damage, which is said to be in the thousands of dollars, as lightly as the possibly love-struck co-host.

"Look, these morons are let loose on our fair town and they leave a trail of havoc every step of the way. I don't believe that our taxpayer's hard-earned money should go to picking up their tab. However, I can't see punishing the townspeople by keeping the East Wing of the library in disarray while these chuckleheads have to do a Kickstarter to cleanup ghost bullets." Mayor Grisham exclaimed on the steps of city hall.

While there has been no love lost between the hosts at King Falls AM and the Mayor, Grisham states "I couldn't let the faults of a few, hurt the needs of the many" and signed off on repairs that will fix the damaged walls, tables and books from what locals are dubbing "Lincoln's Revenge".

The library is set to reopen to the public Monday November 30th, after the long holiday weekend.

Happy Halloween from King Falls AM!

The following is an online editorial written by Sammy Stevens, co-host of King Falls AM's Sammy & Ben Show. It does not express the views or belief's of The King Falls Gazette or it's staff.

Now I know what you're thinking, King Falls does not like today. Halloween is not a favorite. But where I come from this is a fun day. Awesome costumes, scary movies, trick or treating and of course hearing Thriller every hour on the hour from all the other radio stations.

But you guys aren't fans. I guess if you dealt with the real bumps in the night, apparitions and other spooky stuff year round, maybe Halloween wouldn't be that fun after all . Also, Ben, please note that isn't me admitting that every damn thing that happens here is legit.

All I'm saying is, that no matter what you do today, celebrating a harmless, fun & possibly inappropriately dressed holiday or otherwise, is have fun & be safe.

I've got the fun-sized candy bars here at Casa de Stevens if you come ring the doorbell kiddies, but come 9pm the porch light is off and I'm digging in.

Red Rum Roses & Billionaire Bullies by Ben Arnold

The following is an editorial written by Ben Arnold, co-host of King Falls AM's Sammy & Ben Show. It does not express the views or belief's of The King Falls Gazette or it's staff.

Hey guys & girls, Ben Arnold from King Falls AM, that's 660 on the AM dial here. I had a few minutes of spare time and a few hours of pent up rage so I thought I would write an OPEN LETTER about the last couple weeks here at the station and in The Falls in general.

First off, there was discussion from a certain only-comes-out-at-night, eccentric, dusty, bag o' bones billionare (who may or may not be a vampire) ... no names here, who said that King Falls AM might possibly be fabricating a story about a missing hiker just a couple weeks back.

Dear reader, I think if you and I can only agree on one thing, it would be this: that a certain only-comes-out-at-night, eccentric, dusty, bag o' bones billionare (who may or may not be a vampire) again, no names here, likes to stir the pot.

This, my friends, is the pot being stirred.

It is extremely well documented that on October 1st we received an anonymous call at the station alerting us to a cassette tape in our mailbox.

Against Sammy's wishes, I went and checked the mail and found said tape. We played the tape of what we assume to be the missing hiker, Lance McCord. Again, all factual. He stated his name, his whereabouts and the like.

Against MY wishes, Sammy continued on about the tape ... then against ALL of our wishes the tape continued on ... without being plugged in.

Godspeed Lance, wherever you are.

I know there are a few people out there in the world that think the worst of Sammy & I. That we aren't here for our community but only for ratings. HA! If that were the case, Sammy wouldn't have come to our tiny town and I would have left years ago.

I love King Falls and I'm proud to say I can call most of you friends, the ones that don't attack us ... or live on the S.S. Backstabber.

Let me clear the air and say that nothing we do is fabricated. Big deals get made about the Tim Jensens, the Lance McCords but nobody makes a stink about the hour we spend talking to Maury Williams from Maury's Magnet Memorial. What I'm saying is, these detractors FIND sensational issues to make deals of. They don't look at the human's behind the issues or the fact these issues are thrust upon myself & Sammy.

So the next time a billionaire writes an editorial about your friendly late night AM talk radio show, remember he's the same guy who left 2,500 white roses at our doorstep. Please remember he's the guy selling an e-book that is running down our fair town, mangling history & spectral phenomenons alike. Also, and I'm not saying this in print about anyone in particular, but can you really ever trust a VAMPIRE? I thought not.

Sammy & I bare it all from 2-6am every weeknight, we are open books. Maybe be weary of the guy you never see around town but is always watching from up the mountain. Using his wealth & power to drive the little guy off land, or in this case, the air.
